Police hunt man after stabbing

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT AND EMILY HALLORAN

POLICE are still hunting a man who stabbed another man in the Paradise Point home owned by the brother of a millionaire businessman on Saturday.

The residence is the home of Luke Tomlinson, the brother of Gold Coast ‘rich lister’ Sean Tomlinson.

Luke Tomlinson hit the headlines this year after his leg was amputated in the aftermath of being shot during a bizarre incident in Helensvale in July. Mr Tomlinson was shot after being forced into a car and made to withdraw money from an ATM.

Police told the Bulletin Mr Tomlinson was not home at the time of the stabbing, about 9am, but had returned later.

Police do not believe Mr Tomlinson has any connection to the stabbing.

A number of people live at the waterside mansion.

Police believe the man involved in the stabbing fled the house on a boat before emergency services arrived.

Police are still searching for the man. It is believed he could still be on a boat.

Paramedics and police were called to the Oxley Dr home after motorists saw an altercation on the footpath.

Multiple police crews and detectives responded and remained at the scene for hours.

A 46-year-old man with a stab wound to his hand was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital by ambulance.

Police also found an unconscious woman in the house. A police spokesman said it was unclear if her state was the result of an assault, a medical condition or another cause.

Neighbours said they saw someone leave on a stretcher earlier in the morning.

Police believe the offender is known to the victim.
