CELEBRATING OUR WOMEN

-

WE might be stating the obvious, but the women of the Gold Coast are an amazing group. They are empowered, and are empowering their peers and the younger generations of our city to make a contribution and to fulfil their dreams.

Across all walks of life and in every facet of our lives, the women of our city work incredibly hard to ensure our community is supported, nurtured and continues to thrive.

A campaign to celebrate and champion these fantastic women is long overdue. That is why we are proud as the city’s newspaper to launch the inaugural Harvey Norman Gold Coast Women of the Year.

There are many high-profile homegrown Gold Coasters achieving great things on the world stage, women like actor Margot Robbie, fitness influencer Emily Skye Anderson, pro surfer Stephanie Gilmore and singer-songwriter Amy Shark.

But there are so many more women who don’t have, or even seek, a profile who are also making extraordinary contributions, dedicating their time and effort to make the Gold Coast the best city in Australia.

From the women who are the backbone of our junior sports, to those teachers who ignite passion in their students, to those who dedicate countless hours to help others in less fortunate situations.

We’re thrilled to have partnered with Harvey Norman and its CEO Katie Page – herself an amazing women who continually strives to champion women in all aspects of life, particularly in sports.

“The Gold Coast really punches above its weight in producing leaders in many areas including sport, business, health and entertainment,” Ms Page said.

“We want to celebrate the achievements of those women making an extraordinary contribution to their community, and in turn encouraging the younger generations with their innovation, passion and dedication.”

We urge all of you to nominate the women in your lives – whether it’s your partner, mother, sister or friend. Tell us their story so we can share it with the world and give them the recognition they deserve.
