GEORGE TO HELP OUT

-

AWARD-winning Australian author, journalist and television presenter George Negus (right) will speak at a fundraising lunch in support of drought-stricken farmers hosted by the Rotary Club of Nerang on Friday, November 23.

The event, Farm Aid – Help a Farmer’s Family, will be held at the Nerang RSL Club from noon to 2.30pm and will include a live auction and a raffle featuring items donated by sponsors and community members.

Rotary Club of Nerang’s Mehmet Tavli said the club wanted to support farming families by raising funds to be distributed to various drought relief programs.

“Australians know the resilient nature of our farmers and how important they are for their economic and environmental contributions to Australia,” Mr Tavli said.

“The conditions they are currently facing are extremely difficult and many of our farmers have been overwhelmed by the challenges they face.

“Rotarians are neighbours, community leaders, and global citizens uniting for the common good. We want to reach out to our business community and come together to help our farmers.”

Tickets to the luncheon are $100 each and include a threecourse meal and glass of wine.
