Surgery for jockey after Hong Kong fall
TYE Angland will have unspecified surgery in Hong
Kong after a race fall at Sha
Tin on Sunday.
Angland, who was pitchforked head first into the turf after his mount Go Beauty Go stumbled leaving the barriers, is having tests at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
The 29-year-old’s wife Erin is travelling to Hong Kong from Sydney.
Angland remained conscious while being treated by medical staff at Sha Tin, where he spent 10 minutes on the track before being transferred to hospital.
The fall shocked fellow riders. Angland previously rode for four years in Hong Kong before returning to Australia.
He was lured back to the world’s most lucrative racing jurisdiction because of a jockey shortage.
The talented rider guided Follow Me to victory for John Size, also registering two minor placings before his fall.
■ THE last of the Werribeebased internationals have left Australia with the departure of Latrobe, A Prince Of Arran and Red Verdon.
The trio will race at the Longines International meeting at Sha Tin on Sunday week.
Owned by Lloyd and Nick Williams, Latrobe will remain in the care of Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien.
The Irish Derby winner will be set for Europe’s premier 2400m races next year.
