Green, Lewis have warning for Horn

- GRANTLEE KIEZA

DANNY Green, Anthony Mundine’s rival in two of the biggest Australian fights of all time, says Jeff Horn will likely overpower The Man at Suncorp Stadium tonight but has warned Brisbane’s boxing hero that the fight is not without dangers.

“I think Jeff is just too tough for Choc at the weight,’’ Green said. “He is much younger and at 71kg he will be very strong.

“Losing so much weight is probably going to be too hard for Choc especially at his age (43). But having said that, Choc’s a fierce competitor and still a wily old fox, very crafty, very experienced.

“You’d expect Jeff to be a heavy favourite but you can never write off a bloke like Anthony Mundine because he has a great will to win.

“He is a real competitor and he will be fired up for a big performance.’’

His warning was echoed by Australia’s most successful fight trainer Johnny Lewis, who prepared six world champions including Jeff Fenech, Kostya Tszyu and Billy Dib.

Lewis said: “When Anthony’s confidence is up he is a very dangerous guy; very fast and with a lot of power. That right hand of his is electric and I think that he really believes he has Jeff Horn’s measure.

“If Anthony starts sniping Jeff from long range and gets that hand speed going he will be very hard to beat.

“I suspect that this is the last throw of the dice for Anthony and that win, lose or draw he will throw everything he has.’’
