JUST PLANE FUN FOR TEEN SNAPPER
GOLD Coast teenage photographers have their eyes on the skies as they try to frame a winning picture of a aircraft at the Gold Coast Airport.
Elanora local Liam Humphreys, 14, said he had a passion for aviation and photography and found his hobbies go hand in hand.
“I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up and I’m keen on photography,” he said.
“My dad is a pilot, so I’ve always been interested in planes and about two years ago I started to become interested in photography.”
The Elanora State High School student jumps on his bike a couple of times a month to take photos of planes on the tarmac at the Gold Coast Airport.
Liam has entered the best photo he took on Saturday into the competition with a $1000 first prize that could help him to kickstart his year in aviation school.
“I’m looking at starting this year. So I should be able to start flying planes this year,” Liam said.
This is the fourth year the Gold Coast Airport has held the plane spotter photographer competition for teenagers.
A panel of judges will determine the winning image and one lucky teen will find out next week if their shot scored them $1000.
“I haven’t seen anyone else’s photos. But I’m happy with my shot,” Liam said.
