BELIEVE the hype.

Gold Coast politicians and its tourism body CEO are getting excited about the exposure from the weekend’s live TV broadcoast of Eurovision – Australia Decides.

LNP’s John-Paul Langbroek, the member for Surfers Paradise, called it the best exposure since the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games.

Though to be fair, in the case of the closing ceremony, beating that flop wouldn’t be difficult.

But Eurovision’s national final is an event with a huge following globally and one this city should try hard to hang on to.
