GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

Reindeer Moon (Race 4) Favourite backers needed Reindeer Moon to deliver and she did exactly that. Daniel Griffin took her straight to the front and she was always in control of the race. She kicked away at the top of the straight and was nothing short of dominant.

Beat Za Drum (Race 5)

Beat Za Drum showed plenty of toughness to record her maiden race win. She was caught wide on what was a fairly hot speed early and she got shuffled back at a key moment, but she was able to rally late and ran away from her rivals in the concluding stages.

Cool Mover (Race 6)

The comeback of punters continued as the well-backed Cool Mover ($1.75) claimed a classy victory. Jockey Luke Dittman was able to settle her in a lovely position in the early stages of the race and she looked like the winner a long way from home.

LOSERS

Regimental Force (Race 8) Regimental Force showed an incredible amount of potential as a younger horse; he finished third behind Astern and Niccolance on debut at Royal Randwick, but he hasn’t really gone on with the job. This looked like the ideal race for him, but once again, he found one of his rivals too strong.

NEXT TIME

Exactamente (Race 1)

It won’t make punters that backed him at the short odds feel any better, but there is no doubt that a slow start cost Exactamente the race. He reared at the start and lost several lengths, which meant he had to work hard just to get in touch with the rest of the field. The fact he got as close as he did suggests that he is absolutely flying.

Fighting Teo (Race 3)

The horror start for punters continued with Fighting Teo in the third race of the day. He was caught wide in the early stages of the race and was forced to go forward, which definitely hurt him late. He didn’t give up, but Le Mattan had the perfect trail into the race and that was the difference late.

Second Thought (Race 7)

It took Second Thought a while to wind up in the straight, but when she got going she absolutely savaged the line. Her best form in Victoria came when she got out over a staying trip and she will be tough to beat over a staying trip in Queensland.

BIG BETS Race 1 Exactamente $2000 @ $2.40 Race 4

Reindeer Moon – Winner $3000 @ $1.80 Race 5

Coach Carter – 8th $2000 @ $3.90
