BREAKDANCERS HOPE TO GO FROM FRINGE TO BIG STAGE

-

YOU could be watching a couple of future Olympic champions at this year’s Adelaide Fringe.

Urban circus show 360 Allstars features two of the world’s top breakdancers, Bboy Sette (Peter Sette) and Bboy Leerok (Jared Graham), who are excited about plans to introduce the sport at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

“It’d be pretty awesome, it’d be great to represent the country at the Olympics ... hopefully I’ll still be in my prime by then,” said Sette, 28, a former Australian champion.

Paris organisers last week announced they would campaign to the International Olympic Committee to include breakdancing at the Games.

Meanwhile, the duo joined fellow cast members, including two-time world champion BMX Flatlander Peter Sore, for a sneak peek of the new Pirate Life Brewery in Port Adelaide.

“It was fun checking out the place, it looks really good,” said Sette.

“We had a bit of a muckaround, had a few beers, it’s great – it’s pretty strong stuff!”

The family-friendly show, which is at Gluttony until March 17 as part of the city’ Fringe, features world-class athletes, professional dancers and basketball freestylers combined with live hip-hop music.

“It’s really high-energy, high-action, it’s a really fun show which appeals to everyone,” said Sette. “It’s great interacting with the other art forms – especially in the warm-ups – as we try to push ourselves to new heights.

“We’re all really enjoying being in Adelaide and at the Fringe.

“These big festivals are a different vibe to a normal theatre venue, it’s just great being a part of it all.”
