REMEMBER WHEN

-

GOLD COAST BULLETIN Saturday, February 26, 2005

OUTSPOKEN and bubbly university student Michelle Vegter feared venturing out into Surfers Paradise’s nightclubs.

The 20-year-old vividly remembered being sworn at and fiercely shoved to the ground by a nightclub bouncer after she asked for her driver’s licence back.

She claimed the bouncer used his authority to intimidate and threaten her by refusing to give her ID back and mouthing her address to himself.

Sober at the time, the Ashmore resident suffered a sprained wrist and severe bruising along her back, legs and backside.

She was forced to wear a bandage on her arm for a month.

“It happened over Indy last year. We were geared up for a big night,’’ recalled Michelle, a part-time model.

“I was the last in line of a group of friends,’’ she said.

“The bouncer asked me for my ID. I handed it to him and he held it for a long time, muttering my address under his breath,’’ she said.

“He kept repeating my address and looking me up and down. It was freaky. I finally asked if he was finished with my licence. He looked up at me and said, ’I’ll tell you when I’m f ...... finished with it’.

”I then waited a few more minutes. He kept staring. I’m not that tall (170cm). He was like 6’4” (193cm).

“I then asked him again if he was done. He replied, ‘I’ll tell you when I am f ..... done’.

“After that he pushed my chest and I fell backwards.

“There was a set of stairs behind me, so I put my arm out to catch my fall.”
