DAY CARE IS CHILD’S PLAY FOR PARENTS

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

DOZENS of Surfers Paradise families will no longer have to face a daily commute for child care because the suburb’s first early learning centre is officially opening its doors this weekend.

RISE Early Learning Surfers Paradise will celebrate its opening on Saturday, welcoming 88 children aged from newborn to five years old.

Centre manager Rebecca Gunn said some parents were driving up to 30 minutes in heavy traffic to have their children in day care.

“The strong message we’re getting is that they’re really enjoying not having to do the commute,” she said.

“It’s the fact they can pop in at any time now, or for the young babies the mums are enjoying being able to come in and breast feed in their lunch breaks.”

The new centre is located in the Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre, and held its “soft open” several weeks ago.

It’s now planning an open day on Saturday to give local families the chance to tour the facilities.

Mum Bobbie-Lee Ryder lives and operates her own business in Surfers Paradise, and has just moved four-yearold son Leo to the centre.

“It’s been amazing,” she said.

“We moved him from Ashmore and he’d been there about two years.

“When they opened this I was straight in because I knew I wanted him to be in Surfers.”
