Grassroots support by the Titans
THE Gold Coast Titans have expanded their connection to grassroots rugby league and touch organisations.
The Titans have signed a memorandum of understanding with Rugby League Gold Coast, Group 18 Junior Rugby League, Group 1 Junior Rugby League, South Queensland and Border Districts Touch Football and South West Queensland Touch Football.
Each organisation will have access to Titans initiatives, including the junior club ambassador program and minileague and mini-touch.
Gold Coast NRL players will also take ownership of a local junior club who they will visit throughout the season.
Titans chairman Dennis Watt said engaging juniors and providing a path to the NRL via the Titans was at the forefront of the move.
“We have drawn a line in the sand, so to speak, and there is only one way to go and that is to take the game forward and for the Titans to be successful on the national stage,” Watt said.
“The Gold Coast and Northern Rivers, they deserve that. We represent these areas and the people with pride and we are determined to make a great fist of it.
“We are committed partners in the growth of rugby league and touch football.
“We are a strong and cohesive group providing opportunities for young people who aspire and dream of representing the Titans on the national stage.”
