CANDY CLUBBING
How the Gold Coast partied last week - check out who hit the city’s hotspots
A GOLD Coast family – mum, dad and the kids – have had themselves all inked with a free branding tattoo offer from Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon.
The Turners from Labrador were among hundreds who queued up at Westfield Coomera’s Celebrity Ink tattoo shop at the weekend.
Mum Kylie went first with a Candyman logo on her ankle before husband Luke, and sons Dylan, 19, and Jeremy, 18, who got his first tattoo.
Jeremy said: “I got it on my ribs, I’ve been looking at getting a tattoo for a while but I didn’t have the money for it, I don’t know, this just seemed cool.”
Mrs Turner said it was a nice family memento.
“It’s something that we’ve all got together and it’s pretty good to represent a local plus we want to get into his parties,” she said.
Some as old as as 70 jumped at the chance to get a free tattoo of Beynon’s Candyman logo, or his tobacco business label.
The tobacconist tycoon is promising those who do it will have a better chance of being chosen to attend his extravagant annual house party.
The self-described playboy, who hit Broadbeach’s Love Nightlife with entourage for a night out on Saturday, watched on at Celebrity Ink yesterday as hoards of fans had themselves inked.
Celebrity Ink stores across the Gold Coast were pushed to the limits tattooing more than 130 people on Saturday and crowds were out the door throughout yesterday.
Five tattoo shops, three on the Coast, and one each in Brisbane and Melbourne were booked solid. “I didn’t expect to book out five tattoo shops within 30 minutes,” Mr Beynon said.
