GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ MARK MAZZAGLIA

-

WINNERS

Cabeirian (Race 4)

Cabeirian ($4.80) was no closer than three wide throughout the run and was the widest runner on the home turn but still went on to record a comfortable 1½lengths win in the BenchMark 70 Handicap (1200m).

The Odyssey (Race 7)

The Odyssey repeated his all-theway last-start win at Doomben with a similar frontrunning performance to take out the $500,000 QTIS 2yo Jewel (1200m). The Kelly Schwiedatrained The Odyssey was sent out as the $3.30 favourite and punters were never in doubt of collecting. LOSERS

Drumadoir (Race 1)

It was a disastrous start to the day for the punters with the $3.50 favourite Drumadoir finishing down the track in the Class 3 Plate (1800m). Drumadoir was slow out of the gates and was always in the second half of the field and failed to make any impression at any stage on the heavy track.

Bold Warrior (Race 5)

Bold Warrior was sent out as the $4 favourite but didn’t look comfortable in the wet conditions and struggled into fourth spot in the BenchMark 70 Handicap (1200m). Bold Warrior was midfield and three wide in the run but failed to make any impression in the straight.

Looks Like Elvis (Race 6)

The punters stuck with the widely travelled Looks Like Elvis, who went to the post as the $3.10 favourite for the Gold Coast Stakes (1800m). Looks Likes Elvis never looked a winner in the heavy conditions and after making a short dash in the straight, faded over the concluding stages to finish a well beaten seventh.

NEXT TIME

Allround Glory (Race 3) Allround Glory ($8.50) had a tough run in transit but was still able to find plenty in the straight to hold out the favourite Bonsho ($3.60) in the run to the line to win the NMW Handicap (900m). Jag Guthmann-Chrester was caught four wide from an outside gate but Allround Glory handled the heavy track and found another gear in the straight. Will win again in similar conditions.
