WINNERS
Gem Of Scotland (Race 1) Gem Of Scotland backed up his impressive debut win at Ipswich with an even more dominant win over 900m. He had no trouble mustering early speed and was in control throughout.
Takotsubo (Race 2) Takotsubo launched out of the gates and fought back after looking under pressure at the top of the straight.
Sparkling Facet (Race 5) Sparkling Facet showed plenty of toughness to return to winning form. She was unable to find the lead after doing plenty of work early and she looked under pressure at the top of the straight, but she kept on finding and held off her rivals to win.
•Racecourse Road (Race 8) Racecourse Road could hardly have been more impressive. He had to do a fair amount of work in the early stages, but it didn’t hurt him late and he put a big gap on his rivals at the end.
LOSERS
Arnwood (Race 1)
There was plenty of money with Ladbrokes for Arnwood ahead of the opening race of the day, but he was simply never able to get into the contest. He has now been beaten as an odds-on favourite two starts in a row and it will be a while before he starts this short again.
Aggravate (Race 2)
It was no surprise that Aggravate was well-backed ahead of this race, his record at the Gold Coast is outstanding, but he produced a very plain performance. He was caught wide in the early stages, but was still entitled to offer more than he did in the straight.
NEXT TIME
Northern Dragon (Race 4) Northern Dragon stormed home and he was in front of Beat Za Drum a metre after the line. He doesn’t have a great record, but is in career-best form. Another win is just around the corner.
