TSS pair in GPS rep team
TOM Watts and Cody Durante have been selected to represent the premiershipwinning The Southport School in a combined GPS cricket first XI side.
The pair were rewarded for being pivotal contributors in TSS sealing their third straight title.
All-rounder Watts scored only 88 runs at an average of 12.57 but played multiple important cameos in the middleorder, and collected 10 wickets at 16.5 with his medium pace.
He also captained the side for three wins from as many starts when Hugo Burdon was sidelined.
Durante was the leading TSS batsman, accumulating 212 runs at 30.29 – including three crucial half-centuries – while also racking up nine dismissals behind the stumps.
TSS coach Ross Wallace confirmed the duo’s representative fixture would be played on Wednesday next week against a Queensland Cricketers’ Club Wanderers team.
Wallace’s side secured two spots in the XI courtesy of their top-two placing, with most other schools only having one representative.
“They (Wanderers) have a lot of first graders from Brisbane actually play in that game so it’s a good test for them and it just shows their skills,” Wallace said of the match.
“They usually have a couple of Queensland Cricket representatives there to actually have a look and see what’s on display.”
