Suns in the sight of returning Docker

- JON RALPH

JESSE Hogan wants to play against Gold Coast on Sunday but the key forward will need approval from Fremantle’s mental health experts.

The Dockers’ recruit endured one of the most turbulent weeks of his life after his battle with anxiety was made public when he missed Sunday training because of a Saturday drinking session.

Hogan, who was conse- quently ruled out of the Round 1 game against North Melbourne, trained with the Dockers last week but also had a day of surfing to clear his mind.

Hogan has been working with mental health experts and an external psychologist as he deals with his anxiety issues.

He will require approval to play before coach Ross Lyon can consider him for selection.

In his absence, the Dockers stormed to an 82-point win against North but Lyon will have to replace Hayden Ballantyne (hamstring).

Lyon said after the win Hogan would have to wait.

“It’s in the hands of the medical team and everything that would go with that,” he said. “I don’t think it’s a forum for me to speculate.

“It’s not a decision I will make but I am sure I will be informed of any progress and we support all of our people and staff.

“Everyone gets the same treatment and the people in the right positions make those decisions.”

THE AFL has completed a review of Marvel Stadium’s surface which came under fire over the weekend for shifting and being unsafe.

While Suns coach Stuart Dew and youngster Brayden Fiorini said they had no issues with the turf, the league will replace some sections of the western side of the ground “to ensure the surface is safe and appropriate for AFL foo–tball”.
