The Gold Coast Bulletin

OFF THE RECORD

-

NOW we’re not ones to pass on gossip but our phone has been running hot with tall tales but true about the comings and goings at a Gold Coast business. What has the staff in an uproar is that the boss is not playing fair with finances. One miffed madam has been stung twice. Once when she joined in a partnership involving a large sum of invested money and then when she decided to leave the deal she claims that she was dudded with exorbitant fees. No fury like a woman conned so she has been working the phones telling her tale of woe and finding that she hasn’t been the only one to have been stung. No surprise that the woman of the hour has left town for a luxury holiday.

HERE’S a real life Married at First Sight story that involves a divorced man with more money than he can spend.

After a year of looking high and low for a replacement bride he headed off to an Asian resort for a holiday.

While there he met up with some ex-pat friends who convinced him to give the local “dating” scene a try. Short story even shorter he met someone, she was everything he wanted in a permanent companion and four days later they exchanged wedding vows. Now the happy couple is set to split their time between here and there.

ON, off, on, off and now finally back on again.

If that sounds like the power supply in South Australia you are almost right.

It is the story of a hesitant suitor and his not so blushing gal pal. The reason for his reluctance to commit fully to the love affair is that he thought he was done and dusted with matters of the heart. Having lived a life and then some he had grown tired of sharing and caring deciding to settle down to a life alone with occasional liaisons to keep his hand in so to speak.

But the woman du jour has decided he is the one and has convinced him, after a few false starts, to give up his bachelor ways for a life of shared happiness.

There’s nothing like demonstrating grace under pressure. Miffed that his pitch for a promotion was passed over did he (a) accept the decision and vow to work harder or (b) launch a tirade about the injustice of being such a wonderful employee/ person/co-worker and not being rewarded for his efforts? If you picked (b) give yourself a prize. To compound matters his boss has now heard about the dummy spit and has marked his card.
