PROPERTY young gun Evan Raptis has plans to start work on a 17-storey apartment tower in Broadbeach this year after securing a site for close to $4 million.

Evan Raptis teamed up with his father, veteran developer Jim Raptis, last year after ending his partnership with George Mastrocostas, which saw them build hundreds of apartments together in Biggera Waters and Varsity Lakes.

Evan Raptis said they would lodge a development application in the next few weeks for the 1200sq m site across two titles at 28-30 Second Ave.

He said the project would contain between 90 and 100 two- and threebedroom apartments.

“Pending council approval we anticipate construction to commence sometime in August,” he said.

The development will be undertaken by a private Raptis development company, not linked to the listed vehicle Raptis Group Ltd, which is chaired by Jim Raptis.

He recently won a legal battle with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission to keep his builder licence.

Both properties at No. 28 and No. 30 contain houses and were sold by Adrie Salm and Joseph Kolmack respectively. The former inherited the property in 1994 while the latter acquired his for $115,000 in 1986. One is used as a weekender while the other is a permanent residence.

The property was marketed by Antonio Mercuri of GV Property Group. It has 30m of north-facing frontage and is a short distance from Pacific Fair, Oasis Shopping Centre and The Star Gold Coast.
