Jay Pask offloads father’s Biggera Waters yard for close to the asking price of $588,000, admitting he’s fed up of dealing with ‘ratty people’ in the industry

FASHION king Jay Pask has sold his father’s caryard after tiring of dealing with “ratty people” in the car retailing industry.

Mr Pask inherited the 49 Brisbane Rd property from his late father Donny Pask, a veteran of the motoring industry and co-founder of the Finks who died in 2013.

Donny Pask Cars & Motorcycles has operated from the Biggera Waters premises since 1993 after moving from Main Beach but will now be wound up and the remaining stock sold off.

“To be honest I do not feel nostalgic in selling it,” Mr Pask said.

“I do not want to sound snobby. Since my dad passed it has provided me with a comfortable lifestyle.

“(However) it has meant I have had to deal with ratty people. I’m happy to be back in the world of fashion and not having someone screaming at me down the phone because their gasket has blown.”

He said his father had purchased the property partly because it made the commute from their Runaway Bay home easier.

Mr Pask recently opened a fashion outlet in Main Beach.

He said he decided to focus on the new venture late last year.

“It is interesting how things have a way of falling into place,” he said.

“I had a fella call up today and say he would take all the remaining stock off my hands.”

Mr Pask said if his father was still alive he would still be running the caryard.

“I’m sure in his heart of hearts he would have loved for me to secure a future in the industry but it’s not me.”

The 589sq m caryard sold to a neighbour for close to the asking price of $588,000.

Marketing agent Wayne Devenport, of Commercial 1 Gold Coast, said the buyer intends to use the property as a storage yard.

He said the buyer previously purchased 51 Brisbane Rd for $602,000 in 2017.

“The purchase gives them a landholding of almost 1200sq m on that road,” he said.

“It is zoned fringe business so there is scope for redevelopment.”

The buyer is Link 815 Pty Ltd, associated with Oxenford resident Zhaojuan Wen.
