Act now to get Oceanway sooner rather than later

-

I REALLY appreciate Tory Jones (Lead petitioner for Oceanway 2020, Bulletin 27/3) working so hard for her community to get the missing link from Nobbys to Surfers constructed.

Any missing links of the Gold Coast City Council’s Oceanway path project should be costed and included in the next budget with delivery dates set as part of the council’s ongoing program of works.

Gloria Baker from Friends of Currumbin, myself and other members of the community also petitioned to ensure completion of the Tugun to Bilinga section.

However, every day as I ride along that section, I can’t help but wonder whether we would have had it years sooner with so much less effort if everyone who is now using it had just taken the time to email their local Gold Coast City Councillor and the Mayor confirming their desire to see it completed.

Now that the fight is over, people are happy using the Tugun to Bilinga section so I ask everyone who would benefit from using the Nobbys to Surfers section to take the time to write that email showing their support for its immediate commencement so that they too may enjoy walking, jogging, biking or just taking in the views and sea breezes particularly given the extraordinary success of the Tugun to Bilinga section.

It’s an amazing asset which has provided greater beachfront access for the public and has improved the quality of life of thousands of locals and visitors to the area.

If you’re in doubt, you’ve only got to go down there to see it for yourself.
