They’ve even taken away our Queensland sunshine

- RON NIGHTINGALE, BIGGERA WATERS

PALASZCZUK and Bailey would have us believe that the offer of money to fix our M1, our rail and light rail means the Federal Government is treating us like second class citizens.

I remind the Premier that Queenslanders have long memories, memories of her and Mark Bailey having access to Federal Government money for the M1 in the past, of her wasting some of that money on surveys, discussions, meetings ... and the list goes on.

We remember how Mr Bailey whinged and complained that the Federal Government should pay more in one breath and then his colleague the Police Minister announced the introduction of new ways to fine the travelling public via hidden cameras, which have not halted the death toll on the Gold Coast.

No Premier, your claims that the Feds treat us like second class we do not believe as you managed to get an MP on the Coast, you made her an assistant minister and we have seen nothing to help us.

What we have seen is more pokies so that it is possible for a second casino to open, we have seen the M1 with worse conditions, we have seen bullying in our schools at its highest level in the history of the state, we have seen our rail systems fail over and over again, we have seen our police numbers dwindle to such numbers that the public has lost faith in their safety to walk the streets, we have seen hoons thrive and bikies running meth labs in increased numbers, our hospitals bursting, our aged being mistreated ... all because you don’t care.

You back your mate Bill, but he has not made this money available to us, he would not come near us.

He claims he can match other things in a proven Budget but he does not tell us how he can without borrowing money to do it just like Rudd, just like Gillard and just like your mentor Anna Bligh. You won’t show us your figures confirmed and checked and neither will he.

I’m sorry Premier, I come from a generation that remembers when the Sunshine State was great, when our trains ran on time, our roads were free flowing, our hospitals had enough beds, there was plenty of room in our schools and we were taught to be respectful.

Not now. Under you and your mates there is no sunshine in Queensland.
