WINNERS
Kolstar (Race 1)
Kolstar got the punters off to a flying start when she saluted as the $3.70 favourite. Paul Hammerlsey rode a patient race, settling the filly at the tail of the eight-horse field. Kolstar started a sweeping run approaching the home turn and, while it took the length of the straight to take the lead, the right result was gained.
Bubbles’ N’ Troubles( Race 4) Ryan Plumb had the favourite Bubbles’ N’ Troubles nicely tucked away midfield and found clear space in the straight for Bubbles’ N’ Troubles to dive through.
Hacksaw Ridge (Race 8) Last-race winner Hacksaw Ridge saw the punters go home happy when they saw Daniel Griffin salute on the $3 favourite. Hacksaw Ridge was first to leave the gates before settling outside the leader and, once heads were turned for home, Griffin released the brakes.
LOSERS
Captivated (Race 3)
The heavily backed Captivated was sent out as favourite but had to settle for the runner’s up cheque. Daniel Griffin gave the favourite every chance but he found one better on the day.
Shamurt (Race 5)
Shamurt was a little tardy out of the gates and settled in third mid race. But things weren’t looking good for the favourite, who was under the whip before the home turn and never threatened in the straight to wind up fourth.
Aggravate (Race 6) Aggravate was a little slow to leave the barriers and then had a tendency to over-race in the middle stages. Daniel Griffin found open space in the straight but Aggravate couldn’t match strides with the winner Comic Story and had to settle for second.
NEXT TIME
Coupe de Ville (Race 4) Coupe de Ville set the pace and fought on tenaciously in the run home to finish second to the favourite Bubbles’ N’ Troubles. Coupe de Ville was one of the outsiders at $41 but won’t be starting at those odds again. BIG BETS
