WINNERS
Rothenburg (Race 3)
Luke Dittman gave Rothenburg the run of the race and speared the odds-on favourite through a gap to secure a winning break. The Matt Dunn-trained two-yearold went to the line unopposed for his maiden win.
Duvessa (Race 4)
The Toby Edmonds-trained Duvessa secured a maiden win in the Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap after being sent out as favourite. Ryan Plumb gave Duvessa an uninterrupted run to the line in the straight for a comfortable win.
Smart As Attack (Race 7) Smart As Attack was caught wide in the first 300m before Daniel Griffin elected to let the shortpriced favourite slide forward and sit at the leader’s rump. Smart As Attack had to work hard in the early and middle stages and then produced plenty to hold out all of the challengers to record a narrow win.
LOSERS
Archer’s Paradox (Race 2) Archer’s Paradox was sent out as the $2.30 favourite in the fivehorse field but, after going headto-head with Lady McCade in the early and middle stages, was unable to sustain the effort and faded to finish third after Clayton Gallagher dropped his whip at the top of the straight.
Therenback (Race 5) Therenback had to use a little bit of petrol early when Daniel Griffin urged the $2 favourite forward but was unable to cross to the lead. Battled on only fairly in the straight to finish third.
Enterprise March (Race 6) Nathan Day took Enterprise March straight back to last from the outside barrier but the oddson favourite didn’t seem to handle the wet conditions and missed a place.
NEXT TIME
Creative Moss (Race 4) Creative Moss found one better when second to Duvessa in the Maiden Handicap but it won’t be long until she finds the winner’s stall. Has good gate speed and can race on the pace. BIG BETS
