GOLD Coast Basketball has had the best 60th birthday present they could ask for after they were awarded Basketball Queensland’s 2018 association of the year on Saturday night.

After just recently overtaking Brisbane to become the state’s biggest basketball asDESPITE sociation, the Gold Coast can also now call themselves Queensland’s best after taking out the award ahead of Townsville Basketball and the North Side wizards.

“The association is as only as good as its members so we’re extremely lucky to have members who represent the best parts of our game; teamwork, commitment, fun and sportsmanship,” said Gold Coast basketball manager Joel McInnes. “Our players, coaches, referees and volunteers and even our spectators demonstrate every day the value of the sport and recreation in the community.”

McInnes also lauded the impact of the Commonwealth
