Civility in rapid decline but can our leaders stem tide?

-

BAD manners and lack of being taught care and consideration. Simply, that’s all it is, yet, so often it ends in loss of life, loss of living and enjoyment, loss of income and more and more restrictions for the rest of us.

The weekend papers were full of incidents of bad manners and lack of consideration for other people. From Senior Sgt Dave Tierney’s moving plea to drive with care, to Ann Wason Moore’s story regarding the dangers of cycling, the difficulty faced by the owner of the Burleigh Pavilion, and the objections of local residents to “drunks and vomit”, sadly a regular occurrence at any licensed venue these days, to the absolute twits that think they are big brave bikies.

Daily we witness younger parents screaming obscenities at their kids, or at other people who may have got in the way of their kids, mobs of young kids shoving old people out of the way because they are too slow and then grabbing a seat for themselves, sitting on the light rail with their filthy feet on the seats, kids attacking bus drivers, shouting out of car windows, (you, on The Spit, do you realise how utterly stupid you look, and no, you did not give me a fright).

There is no longer any discipline, the socialists and dogooders have banned any form of chastisement or punishment or social guidelines or even education. Our society is well and truly broken. Even God, if you believe in Him, is now becoming broken and lost His authority. No longer a father figure and life guide for some, just a gender-neutral being. I suppose Mother Nature will soon be going out the door too.

And what do our pollies do, and our doctors? Call for more and more legislation, to totally destroy our quality of life by draconian rules, avaricious revenueraising fines for parking on the lawn and a never-ending blame game by money-grabbing lawyers. How about all of them lead by example and talk up the message, how about they put regular education messages in the media. Every day. Then we might be able to get on with a productive and happy life.
