Suit sale was an honour

THE manager of a Gold Coast op shop who sold Logie winner Costa Georgiadis his now iconic suit says it was an honour having the star stop by.

The Gardening Australia host turned heads when he walked the red carpet on Sunday night in a bright purple suit adorned with dozens of gorgeous blooms.

Lifeline Gold Coast manager David Gale helped him pick out the “striking” outfit on Saturday morning.

“Costa is extremely recognisable with his characteristic beard and sunny disposition, and he helped highlight the great products we have on sale while also promoting the important work of our Lifeline Crisis Line,” he said.

“Donating clothing and purchasing second-hand items at Lifeline is a great way to do your part for the environment. You never know what hidden treasures you will find.”

Georgiadis took to Facebook to livestream his suit selection the morning before the awards ceremony.

“Purple does happen to be my favourite colour, and it’s got this incredible shimmy and depth to it,” he told hundreds of viewers. “I wanted to do this, and it’s so good to be here with (volunteer) Lee. They truly are sensational here, and what an amazing shop.

“As you can see this is a great store, there’s lots of fun items. This place is absolutely rocking it, I’m loving wandering around.”

Despite suggestions he pair the outfit with a propeller hat and bright orange tie, he styled the eye-catching suit with inseason flowers from Brisbane.

He left the ceremony with a silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the Gold Logie for Gardening Australia.
