ELEVENTH HEAVEN FOR PALM BEACH CLUB
TENNIS on 11th – the name says it all. It’s tennis, on Eleventh Avenue.
In the 1960s they became a tennis club, opening their gates to the people of Palm Beach, to play tennis – any day, any way.
In 2018 they became the tennis club on the Gold Coast after winning Club of the Year at the Tennis Gold Coast Awards Night.
In 2019, Tennis on 11th still have the same vision – to be more than just a sporting club ... to be a community hub.
And behind every good club is a good committee who voluntarily take things into their own hands to ensure that Tennis on 11th stays fun, friendly and a family favourite.
Sharon Townsend has been playing at the club for 18 years.
Now the club treasurer, Sharon continues to go above and beyond every day to ensure the club continues to play an integral role in the community. Why?
“Because I want to give back to the club which has given me and my family so much, and to continue to the bring our community together through tennis,” she said.
And also they have a new coach. A highly respected, well-renowned and extremely experienced one of that. Who? Paul Hoysted.
Originally from Sydney, Paul has built his career from tennis. He’s played in Wimbledon, he’s operated multiple tennis centres, he’s sat on coaches advisory groups, he’s been on the board for Tennis NSW and now, at Tennis on 11th, he’s the coach.
Paul is also continuing to bring tennis to life at the club, through Hot Shots, Cardio Tennis, social tennis, fixtures and so much more.
ACTION heated up at the Australian Teams Championship at KDV Sports yesterday. The competition, which draws hundreds of juniors from across Australia and Asia Pacific, will finish with finals on Thursday.
