SPECTACULAR PARTNERSHIP FOR GROUNDWATER
VISITORS to Broadbeach will next week have the chance to see a free live performance from Australian Outback Spectacular as part of Groundwater Country Music Festival.
The festival marks the first time the award-winning company has ever partnered with a music festival to offer a glimpse of their full-length show for free.
The condensed show will see six riders perform a synchronised act in the heart of Broadbeach set to I Still Call Australia Home, performed by Outback Spectacular performers.
Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick said the partnership was part of a push to show visitors to the precinct the festival has more than just the music to offer.
“It’s the first time they’ve left their venue and come out into the big wide world and it’s a testament to how professional the event is,” she said. “It’s going to be phenomenal. We don’t have a lot (of money) to enhance the festival so you have to have things that surprise and delight.
“This will be really cool, we’re very excited and very proud. To be associated with a product of such profile, for little Groundwater it’s just incredible.”
The “little” festival, now in its seventh year, is expected to draw in more than 60,000 people and last year injected $13 million into the local economy.
Country music icon Lee Kernaghan was unveiled as part of the line-up mid-last year, after he reached out to festival organisers.
Gold Coast performer Casey Barnes said organisers were good at mixing local and international talent.
“It’s one of the things they do really well, the festival director is great at programming the acts and mixing Gold Coasters amongst it,” he said.
“I could see (when it started) there’s a real thirst for country music here. It’s mind-boggling how much it’s grown.”
