CHURCH TO OPEN AT FORMER MASTERS SITE

-

EVANGELICAL church Hillsong has blessed the Highland Park leasing market after signing on to be a tenant in the suburb’s former Masters store (pictured).

The deal means the 33 Hinkler Dve property, which has 13,709sq m of space across four tenancies, is now fully leased to Hillsong, EMF Performance and Recovery Centre, Princess Polly and Evolution Water & Lighting Solutions.

The property is owned by the Look family, which previously sold the 33 Hinkler Dve site to the WoolworthsLowes partnership for $13.136 million in 2016.

It bought back the property, complete with the Masters complex, for $13.75 million in January last year.

Hillsong has signed a fiveyear lease with three five-year options for 2584sq m at $374,680 per year plus GST and outgoings. That works out to $145/sq m plus GST and outgoings.

Gold Coast City Council last month approved a material change of use application from Hillsong lodged in December last year to establish a church inside the complex.

Those plans included a 3802sq m space inside the former hardware building, including a 700-seat auditorium, mezzanine level, meeting rooms, Sunday school teaching centres and administrative offices.

It would operate between 7am to 11pm Monday to Sunday to allow for social and youth groups to meet.

Worship services primarily occur on Sundays.

The fit-out for the premises is expected to take six months.

Ray White Commercial Gold Coast’s Brandon Johnson negotiated the lease for Hillsong on behalf of the Look family.
