BOORISH DRIVER IN NO MOOD FOR HELP

- ANDREW POTTS AND ANNIE PERETS

A MAN in his 30s has been charged after the car he was driving crashed into an Oxenford home yesterday morning.

Instead of saying sorry to the owners of the house, the driver allegedly told them to “f--- off”.

The crash was the second car-into-a-home incident in three days. On Sunday, a vehicle smashed into the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl in Ashmore, trapping the teenager.

Yesterday, emergency services were called to Oxenford’s Rushcutter Ave at 5.22am.

The car is understood to have crashed into the lounge room of the house.

Three residents were home at the time. Nobody was injured. Resident Alan Tipper said the driver told him to “eff off” after he asked if he was OK.

The driver, a 35-year-old Southport man, was given a traffic infringement notice for driving without due care and attention.

He was also charged with failing to provide a sample of either saliva or blood and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 22.

Mr Tipper, who has lived at the Rushcutter Ave house for three months, said he was preparing to go for a walk when he heard the “explosion”.

His wife, daughter and pets were also inside at the time.

“I was waiting to put my shoes on to go for my walk, which I do every day, which is when this explosion happened,” Mr Tipper said.

“The noise was so horrendous. I came outside to see the bricks spread all the way to the road and thought that something really dramatic happened.

“I walked around the corner and this car was there. My first reaction was that someone must have been seriously hurt.

“I said to the guy ‘are you all right?’ He looked at me strangely, he was in shock and he just told me to eff off.

“So I just turned around and just walked away.”
