More than 120 teams from across the state will converge on three venues – Logan Metro, Cornubia Park Sports Complex and Mt Warren Sports Complex – over four days, with grand finals to be played on Sunday afternoon.

Hillcrest Christian College, Varsity College and The Southport School will represent the Gold Coast in the boys championsh­ip division while Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, Hillcrest Christian College and Southport State High School will do battle in the girls championsh­ip division.

The Hillcrest girls were runners-up last year and will be looking to go one better.

Matches will be played across seven divisions.

Since the start of the competitio­n in 1974, Townsville SHS, John Paul College and St Peters Lutheran College have each won the boys championsh­ip on six occasions, while John Paul College has won the girls championsh­ip 13 times, St Peters Lutheran College eight and Townsville SHS four.

“The Molten CBSQ is the largest high school basketball tournament in the state, with teams from across Queensland representi­ng their schools over four days of intense basketball competitio­n,’’ Basketball Queensland chief operating officer Joshua Pascoe said.

“Basketball Queensland is excited to be able to stream the action to supporters of these teams and all lovers of basketball, showcasing the impressive skills of students from across Queensland.’’

Hillcrest and Cairns SHS start the championsh­ip division at 8am today, while on the girls side of the draw, West Moreton Anglican College play St Margaret Mary’s College, also at 8am.
