Ben cut out for Big Bash

BEN Cutting started the year with a bloodied face after being whacked by a ball but the cricketer says he isn’t afraid of it happening again – unlike his famous fiancee, model and sports reporter Erin Holland.

The Brisbane Heat and the Melbourne Stars are on the Gold Coast ahead of the Big Bash cricket at Metricon Stadium at 6.10pm today.

Heat all-rounder Cutting is hoping the Brisbane side opens its Big Bash account at Metricon Stadium.

“We are back here on the Gold Coast looking to win our first match of the tournament,” he said.

“We have a very strong team this year and a good batting line-up.

“I love the stadium. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house for viewing.”

Back on January 10 at the Gabba, Cutting failed to hang on to a high ball that smashed his face, forcing him to leave the field covered in blood.

Holland, a former Miss World Australia, says she still struggles to watch him play, afraid it might happen again.

Asked by the Bulletin how he was going to comfort Holland, who tries to attend most of his matches, he said laughing: “She’s just got to cop it. She’ll live.”

Cutting will leave the city on Saturday, but says he is a huge fan of the “relaxed” Gold Coast lifestyle – so much so, he is getting ready to relocate.

“We used to have our family holidays here as kids, always down at Burleigh Heads,” he said.

“I know the Gold Coast and would love to move here at some point when cricket is finished.”

Cutting will return on January 1 for another Big Bash match at Metricon against the Perth Scorchers.
