CAN’T disagree more with the Mayor about the design of the Pacific Palm Beach development. For once, a modern, future-proof, trendsetting building is decorating our skylines and the Mayor disapproves. What he wants is the usual boring, square design apartment blocks that speak of no imagination and inspiration. It is time the Gold Coast keep up with the trend and build inspirational and futuristic buildings. Look at the Middle East and learn something. Will

Pacific Palm Beach would look 100 per cent better if that ugly raw concrete was painted white or a pastel colour, but not grey please!

Free parking at Oasis Broadbeach has been reduced from three hours to two hours and then you have to pay. Two medical centres, hairdressers, restaurants, cafes, etc – most people will spend more than two hours at these places and then do some shopping. Good revenue raiser for the new parking contractor – not good for the tenants. Parking hours apply 24/7. Perhaps Pac Fair better option. Mozza

“Hot stats on lack of class aircons” (GCB, 19/12); can anyone think of any Qld govt office that lacks aircon? Any govt vehicles lacking aircon? Failing to have aircon in every school building is a cost-saving measure because the climate hoax has made electricity so very expensive. Hot students can’t concentrate, so this UN-driven scam is contributing to lesser educational outcomes. Shano

Was up at the first phftt of a sparrow’s fart going into meltdown – yet again – about presents, food, decorations, expectations – YIKES! As many were, was out early. It was like an ant colony out there. (Hope everyone got home safely). Drivers rushing all over. Best present ever, ever that you can give your family? That you arrive home safely every single day of your expected long life. SLOW DOWN!

Hey Jack, at 82 years of age you surely must recall the glory days of the pre-Fitzgerald era when a brown paper bag filled with cash could buy all sorts of favours. I say thank God things have changed. We may not have it right but thankfully those days are behind us. H.i.M.

While the weather is so dry, why isn’t the government employing people to go out and dig a few more dams? The advantage will be lost once it starts to rain. Meetings and talk fests will never get it done. The farmers are the

ones to ask. That’s their lifeblood. They wouldn’t be stuffing around like some of our politicians. This has been going on for years. For goodness sake get it done!

Always remember the Catholic Church is not just the offending priests. It is also the dedicated priests and all the people who work for free at Vinnies charity and welfare. People who do soup kitchens, visit the sick, are part of home visiting the elderly are aid workers and support many others at Centrecare. Justin

To “No Name” who complains that churches still get tax free status while Vegan Rising can’t? When was the last time a church group raided a farm and vandalised the property? John Mc

When is something going to be done to prevent children being given back to parents where there has been previous abuse? There can be NO 2nd chance. Mary R, Elanora

I have heard recent callers in to NSW radio stations say that some of the recent “forestry fires” could have been totally minimised but for the fact that “forestry tracks” hadn’t been cleared for so long that it was impossible for fire trucks to get close enough and also that “locked gates” also made their entry impossible. I wonder how many millions of hectares have perished due to failing bureaucrats? Cobblers, GC

Something needs to be done about the selling off of Australian assets to foreigners. Most things sold off, the wider community has been kept basically in the dark till its done. Some resources like water should not be sold off, nor agricultural land, especially. Australia has been sold off too long. It makes no sense other than it’s not good business for Aust when foreign countries are taking it out of Aust, making others rich on the back of the whole selling us out.

Too right, Joe. And the media go on about the recent emergence of women’s sport. What a crock. There has always been women’s sports.

But, no, they want to play men’s sport. And work men’s jobs, and wear men’s clothes etc. Who’s gonna be brave enough to tell them it’s a severe case of penis envy. Dave

Again the courts have failed badly, when a man already convicted of child assault, only 12 months ago, was given probation. He now assaults her brother, leaving him with permanent brain damage, yet the court determines he’ll be out of jail next December? Words fail me. John Mc

Just read about the winner of the $100K scratchie in Nerang, odds must be pretty poor as this is the first for a long long time that I’ve read about a winner? Perko

Good to see a boxing real fight, rather than rugby league trash degrading the art of pugilism.
