What’s happening to the proposed new shopping centre at Nerang – Gilston Rd – next to “My Centre” – we have been waiting for 15 years for this, stopped many times by Harbour Town and Westfield Helensvale. To 51 – I am a ‘baby boomer’ so speak with knowledge of the era. Big families were common then, so to say we had it easy is nonsense. Dad worked two jobs to provide for five of us and this taught us the value of hard work. You can’t tar and feather everyone. Every generation has a combination of differing financial circumstances due to what life has dealt them no matter how hard they have worked. Our judiciary in Qld is an absolute joke! Criminals are given NO deterrent by suspended sentences, parole etc. They know the judiciary has been told not to send anyone to jail for the simple reason there is no room (they are 120% full!) Today’s (16/1) Bulletin is a perfect example. Lady dealing drugs was sentenced to 2.5 years prison “with immediate release on parole”. What deterrent is that? Why bother? Richard Gagie, Ormeau
