Queensland wants Blood
QUEENSLANDERS have quickly shown their support for Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Alligator Blood in voting for the All-Star Mile.
Alligator Blood was in second spot last night after being in front at one stage during the opening day of voting.
The $5 million All-Star Mile will be held at Caulfield on March 14.
The field will comprise the top 10 horses in voting, plus the winners of the Futurity Stakes and Blamey Stakes and three wildcards.
People who vote for a top 10 runner will go into a draw to become that horse’s ambassador on All-Star Mile day and be eligible for a slice of the prizemoney.
A website described Alligator Blood, the winner of eight of his nine starts, as
Australia’s most popular horse this week and that could be correct judging by the early support for him in the All-Star Miles votes.
Queenslanders have got right behind the Sunshine Coast-trained horse.
He was replaced at the top of the leaderboard when the 800 owners who race Star Missile with Shelley Hancox
Syndications stepped in and cast their votes.
■ ADAM Trinder, the trainer of inaugural All-Star Mile winner Mystic Journey, has described his mare’s leg infection as “a hiccup” but expects her to be back into the swing of things next week.
Trinder said he’s now had to adjust her All-Star Mile lead-in and she would most likely run in only the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on February 22.
“It’s a hiccup. I was going to trial her next Tuesday but won’t now,” the Tasmanian trainer said.
“It’s taken a race out of her campaign.
“In regards to the All-Star Mile, it’s one less opportunity to give her a lead-in run and we’ve lost five days of solid training.”
