I am back from 7 weeks of travelling in the USA/Canada. As soon as people realised that I was Australian, they asked me about the bushfires. Without exception, they were all sad for the koalas and kangaroos. Not one person asked me about the personal loss of life and homes. I found that odd. Is that a result of the media coverage they were seeing, or something sadder? SMG

GCB reported on 17/01 of a gang of youths terrorising schoolchildren and demanding their shoes and mobile phones, yet no adult male came to their aid to protect them, talk about gutless. In our Baby Boomers day this would never have happened. If it had, the male public would have given them a good hiding, so would the police, and then another big thrashing by their fathers. Let the public deal with today’s violent youth crime and it will disappear overnight. KenW.

It takes too long for Councillor Caldwell to get to Coomera Waters/Shores with all the overdevelopment and traffic congestion out this way now. Maybe another reason for new zoning, back to our original. Also a ferry stop for us forgotten people on this side of the river might be an idea. G

After being a paid member for nearly 18 years with Dreamworld I attended there today to renew my annual pass, the last three years it cost a pensioner $79. I was quoted $119. An increase of $40. No reason was offered so guess they don’t want pensioners to attend anymore, JW.

As a person born between the age of millennial and gen Y, my partner and I have chosen not to have children so as not to subject them to the horrors of the world that is to come.

We will not bring children into a world where they will die because of climate change and associated global conflict. While you blame arsonists, the ABC and the greens, think of your grandchildren who will suffer in a world in which you will be too dead to know about their demise.

I wish these cricket commentators would stop calling these goat tracks “good wickets” – they are the most pitiful in world cricket. Sack all curators!

Two people fined for feeding dingoes on Fraser Island

About 10 years ago my then 10-year-old daughter was attacked twice in a couple of days, once while walking along a track and a dingo came out of the trees and starting to bite her feet. I beat the dingo off with a

stick. The second attack was in the freshwater lake when 2 dingoes came out of the bush, separated my daughter from the adults swimming in the lake and this time I was prepared and held a solid piece of tree and a male swimmer and myself beat the animals off her back. Two weeks later if I am not mistaken two children were attacked in the sand dunes and they were injured. I would never take a small child on Fraser Island again.

Jackson Arthur Te Amo, done in court for attacking that 19yr old female Hungry Jacks attendant because he didn’t get chips in his order. No benefit to our community, send him back to New Zealand and I’m so glad he lost his job because of this.

Seems a bit ironic that those complaining about high rise buildings at Burleigh live in high rise buildings themselves. How dare they block the views from our high rises with their new high rises!

Look, all you need to know about Bob Katter is that he’s the way the voters in Kennedy extend the middle finger to all the greenies and hipsters who infest the cities. Shano

Just finished reading Saturday’s article about these young fare evaders and young thugs roaming the streets etc ... What is happening in our society with these young offenders? I am horrified at what is going on! Why can’t legislation be changed by federal and state governments to name and shame and also give them some type of punishment, Army Reserves for 12 months or more? Such a sad generation people are breeding now, when they do all this to have some fun. I am fed up with hearing “cannot be named” ... about time the law was changed for today’s generation and society. KH

Morcombe excuse curfew. 6am-6pm.

Monday to Friday. Any under age out without adult supervision should be held and have parents come collect. Don’t care how far they have to travel to do so. Next time caught it’s home curfew mandatory 2 mths. Caught out on that then it’s community service. No ifs buts or sugar soft magistrates. Those that are out there don’t need this added aggravation of underage persons in their work zone when clearly they should be elsewhere. Chilla

If we could empty our jails of pot smokers we could JAIL real criminals.

What happens if a cyclone hits the Gold Coast? It will be chaos just like 1974 but on a much larger scale.
