A CRUISE ship crooner accused of murdering his Gold Coast cheerleader girlfriend will receive no punishment for breaching his bail conditions.

Jayden Moorea, formerly known as Dan Shearin, pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to one count of breaching bail.

The court was told Moorea failed to report to police at the Nerang Police Station on December 11 last year as required under his Supreme Court bail conditions.

Moorea’s lawyer Chris Hannay, of Hannay Lawyers, provided a medical certificate to the court but the document does not detail what his illness was.

The certificate merely stated Moorea was unable to attend the police station on that day.

Magistrate Kay Philipson convicted Moorea without further punishment and no conviction was recorded.

Outside court, Mr Hannay said Moorea had called police on the day and let them know he was ill and reported to the police station with the medical certificate.

“I’m not sure why police even charged him,” he said.

“Why would you waste taxpayers’ resources?”

Moorea is accused of throwing his girlfriend Breeana Robinson off the balcony of a Southport tower on January 29, 2013.

Moorea was charged with murder last year and granted bail by the Supreme Court.

Part of the conditions include he report regularly to police and wear a GPS tracking bracelet.

The GPS bracelet caused controversy at the time after he was released without the ankle tracker as none were available in the Southport Watchhouse.

He returned a couple of days later and had the tracker fitted.
