Mum ‘lost custody’

Dad tells of ‘slob house’

- LEA EMERY

A MOTHER accused of watching as men raped her nine-year-old daughter lost custody of her children after a wild party that caused $80,000 damage to her home, a court was told.

The party was held just weeks after the girl was allegedly sexually abused by different men almost every second night for about 12 months.

The girl’s father yesterday told the Southport District Court the girl had attempted suicide three times since 2016.

About a year after the 2015 party the young girl allegedly wrote a note to her psychologist Robyn Fleming, saying her mother was coming into her room “with friends” and they were touching her “improperly”, the court was told.

The mum, who cannot be named in order to protect the girl, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape and one count each of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child, indecent treatment of a child and deprivation of liberty. It is alleged the mother dressed the girl in a “Playboy outfit” with bunny ears and held the girl’s hands while different men raped her.

The girl told police the incidents happened while her father was in prison between May 2014 and May 2015.

The girl’s father said yesterday the home “looked like a slob junkie house” when he was released from prison.

He told the court a party caused about $80,000 worth of damage. He said it was after that the mother was not allowed custody of the children.

The court was told the girl’s father moved to the Sunshine Coast months after the party and took the girl to a psychologist.

An uncle of the girl told the court the girl lived with him prior to the alleged abuse and would occasionally stay at his place. He said her protests about returning to her mother “worsened” while her father was in prison.

The trial, which is being held in front of a judge only, continues.
