CCTV captures wake park break-in

-

DRAMATIC footage has revealed the moment a group of children allegedly broke into a Gold Coast attraction over the weekend and stole from its canteen.

Gold Coast Wake Park in Oxenford posted photos and security videos on its Facebook page yesterday morning, stating the park was allegedly broken into at 8pm on Saturday.

CCTV footage (right) shows a group of male children opening a roller door into a canteen and climbing over the counter to ransack the fridge.

One child is seen picking up the EFTPOS machine and opening the till to find its contents empty.

Some of the group of boys are dressed in just boardshorts while others wear T-shirts, shorts and or a hooded jumper.

Queensland Police obtained a report of juveniles breaking into the Gold Coast

Wake Park in Oxenford at 2am on Saturday, however the date and time does not match with this incident.

The wake park called on the community for help in identifying the culprits on Facebook.

“Gold Coast we need your help to find these guys. With the help of everyone on the Gold Coast we can’t find these boys,” the park said

ANOTHER weekend, another story about youths misbehaving on the Gold Coast’s streets.

This time the Gold Coast Wake Park at Oxenford has been the alleged victim of theft from a group of young boys.

Footage released on social media shows the alleged thieves, who appear to be as young as 10 years old, jumping the counter and making off with soft drink and food.

While it is a far cry from the escalating violence seen on the Coast’s streets in the two months since the slaying of Parkwood teenager Jack Beasley in Surfers Paradise, it reiterates yet again the need for intervention.

There are no easy solutions and the Gold Coast’s police are doing their best with the available resources.

The ball is now in the court of the state’s political leaders.

The time is now to show leadership and take steps to address this most difficult issue now.

Intervention, in whatever form it takes, will make a difference.
