■ Don’t Leave Me Out (Race 5) The punters finally got some joy when the $3.30 favourite was able to salute after jockey Ryan Plumb gave Don’t Leave Me Out a copybook ride.
■ Replication (Race 6)
Gave favourite backers back-toback winners with a clear-cut victory in the QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap at $3.60.
LOSERS
■ Mysterious Lady (Race 1) Favourite backers were off to a horrendous start with the heavily backed odds-on pop ($1.50) the last to the leave the barriers.
Made a forward move at the 600m but was never going to run down the front-markers and could only pass two rivals to finish fourth in the six-horse field.
■ Hembrow (Race 2)
The punters’ woes continued with the $2.45 favourite finishing fifth. Hembrow settled in the second half of the field but never looked like figuring the finish.
■ Sunny St Cloud (Race 4)
It was shaping up as a tough day for the punters with Sunny St Cloud the fourth favourite in a row to bite the dust. The mare had every chance and even though she tried hard in the straight, she only finished third.
■ Prospectus (Race 9)
The Chris Waller-trained horse was sent out as the $1.80 favourite but looked in trouble from the start after missing the kick slightly and found himself at the tail of the field. Only plodded in the straight and fell into third.
NEXT TIME ■ Toucan Sam (Race 3)
Was a beaten favourite but the Tavistock four-year-old won’t be a Maiden for long when he steps out in something longer in the future.
