Focus on the B.OLD generation
THE search is on to find 10 great stories about older Queenslanders who prove age is no barrier, as part of The B.OLD 2020: be B.OLDer film series to be screened during Seniors Month in Queensland this August.
Entries for the B.OLD 2020 competition close on March 30, allowing budding storytellers just over a month to prove their talent and convince the judges their story should be filmed this year.
Queensland State Minister for Seniors Coralee O’Rourke said the competition was designed to share stories that challenged stereotypes of ageing.
“People, community groups and organisations across the state are proving age is no barrier and we’re asking Queenslanders to find and share these local stories,” Mrs O’Rourke said.
“Ten storytellers will receive a $1000 grant and get the opportunity to work with industry professionals to bring their stories to life as short documentaries.
“We’re calling on all Queenslanders to submit stories that feature older people actively engaged in all aspects of community life — as volunteers, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs or employees.
“We also want to highlight stories that show the importance of intergenerational connections, celebrate Queensland’s diversity, and feature individuals, groups or events in regional and remote settings.
“The B.OLD 2020: be B.OLDer film series is about showcasing real people, events and initiatives that demonstrate the capabilities and contributions of older people.”
