I don’t know where you have been hiding Cr Critchlow but I have worked in Southport for over 15 years and the homeless, vagrancy and drug situation is the worst I have ever seen – and nobody seems to want to do anything about it including the council or the police. It’s a disgrace. John.

LS, My wife and I went to see Queen and we were sitting 10 rows from the stage so we had to walk the length of the field to get to bus queues. Finally caught bus to Nerang Station where we parked and we were home to Palm Beach by 11.30, one hour after concert finished. Also not much chance of getting 40,000 to a Suns game because usually the crowd only sits in the stands and not all over the field. Eddy.

d.a. Luig. The old CTS will be the least of our concerns if all mass transit hubs including airport terminals are closed as a result of coronavirus.

My idea to try to stem the flow of under age criminals would be the following: Charge them as an adult with their sentence to start at age 18. This gives them a few years to contemplate the consequences of their actions. Prior to turning 18 they can get the sentence reduced by not offending again and doing some volunteer community-based work. Also the sentence and record could be totally expunged if at age 18 they join an arm of the defence services, the police or fire brigade for no less time that they were sentenced to. Instead of getting slapped on the wrist and reoffending, this would act as a deterrent, give them a goal to aim for and most likely save a few lives. Murf

With this crazy coronavirus spreading like wildfire from our hands simply touching anything that is contaminated, our GP suggested we avoid visiting restaurants where we use cutlery and cups and glasses that could have been previously used by one of these virus carriers, and if you like meeting friends for a coffee, don’t use an open cup used by other people, instead ask for your coffee in a take-away cup, thus no risks. Catherine

Surely Cbus stadium at Robina would be a better music stadium as it has more and closer seating to a stage and is near the train station. Oldgrey1

For goodness sake, Yvette Dempsey (GCB, 3/3) will give the “denier” pejorative a rest? The central tenet of global warming is rising seas; so why haven’t they risen? Please, explain that before insulting realists. Shano

Beware Mona Hecke. The Queensland council of mayors is not a good investment of ratepayers money. Do your due diligence. They supported Ipswich, Logan and Moreton councils. I’ll say no more

It’s important to look closely at lawn signs during election campaigns. Last time I voted for a real estate agent. Percy the place punter

Shortage of disability parking lanes in the news every day as well as morons parking in them. When will these shopping centres stop having stupid pram parking lanes and turn them into disability lanes. Are these mothers too lazy to wheel their prams a few meters to another vacant lane like us oldies suffering with arthritis have to do. We respect people with disabilities but no respect for these lazy young mothers. Take advantage of your given rights and vent your anger to these big shopping centre central management and demand more disability parking lanes and no pram parking lanes. To hell with these lazy demanding young mothers. We are both in our 80s and full of arthritis and we don’t complain about having to walk looking for a spare parking spot. Bill and Sue

These snotty little crims need a good kick up the arse. What happened to the fear of borstal, or children’s homes. We lived in fear of being sent away. It sure made us think twice about breaking the law. Oh, and NZ used to have the Maori Wardens. They really made us quake in our boots. Let’s stop mamby pambying these little thugs, a good thrashing didn’t do us any harm. - Old chook

Disability Labels - my “other half” also refuses 2 use parking spaces when I’m not present. I find it wonderful however, that there R so many “disabled Tradies” on the GC - it warms the cockles of yer heart NOT! Jus Sayin

I don’t know many people who deny climate change so it’s a good bet that anybody starting a discussion using the words “climate change denier” knows they have already lost.

As I sit here, with crippled joints, have to truly admire a 99-year-old still amazingly, functioning normally. The difference in our health regimes? He danced ballroom, I got into 1980-2020s craze of exercise to the max! And am now paying for big mistake made – bigtime! Human bodies – as much as we’re continually trying to extend/ prevent, old age is imminent & has an expiry date. 3 score years + ten is the old average. Live way beyond that average is most admirable..
