Why am I running?
Following an early career in the radio industry and family tourism and real estate businesses, I’ve been honoured to work hard for the residents of northern Gold Coast and as the city’s Deputy Mayor, delivering:

● The Ormeau Centre;
● The $80 million Pimpama Sports Hub;
● The Coomera Indoor Sports Centre;
● Pimpama Men’s Shed;
● Securing the 80ha Enklemann Farm for future recreational space;
● Two full-size AFL fields;
● Upgraded soccer and rugby fields;
WAYNE PURCELL
Who am I? A full-time father and former environmental manager who has lived on the Gold Coast since 2005. I have worked in the public and private sector in the construction and tourism industries and also in water supply and natural resource management. The majority of my career has been in the planning, assessment and delivery of infrastructure projects and ensuring they are completed taking into consideration local environmental and social site constraints.
Why am I running?
Major changes to residential zoning, building heights etc in the City Plan are being proposed that will significantly impact the amenity and liveability of the Gold Coast. Communication from council to residents has been poor, with many
● Funding for facilities for Scouts;
● Funding for improvements to the cricket clubhouse at Alberton;
● Extensive and ongoing footpath connections, especially around schools;
● The Orange Mountain Road service road to the M1;
● Traffic signals Upper Coomera and Ormeau. I will continue to fight hard for our area to deliver the best possible outcomes, focusing in the next term on extending the CCTV camera network, road upgrades to ease congestion and improved public transport. relevant reports and documents withheld. I have the skills and knowledge to scrutinise council planning and development processes. The northern Gold Coast has been neglected in service delivery and providing opportunities for residents to live more locally. We have the houses and the people, but not the things that bring people together. People are also stuck in their cars on the M1. Being a place for people to sleep is not enough.
I want services and civic places created to foster community and local identity. We also need to improve the transport situation so that people can get out and about safely and efficiently.
