Time to enjoy footy
HEADING into my first season as coach of the Gold Coast Titans, my overriding feeling is one of excitement about the year ahead.
I hope Titans members and fans are feeling the same way.
After a long off-season of hard work, all 16 teams start the new NRL season with a clean slate, ready to show what they are capable of.
Like I told the players on my first day at the club in November, it is a fresh start for all of us. All that matters now is what we achieve together from this point forward.
The players and staff at the Titans have bought in totally from the word go, and we are all in this together.
I am totally satisfied with their application during preseason and I know they are as excited as I am about getting out there to play some footy again.
We have a fantastic group of young men representing you this year.
As a new coach, I get asked a lot about what my expectations are for the Titans this year – what I would need the team to achieve to consider it to be a successful season.
I am not a fan of putting a number in the wins and losses columns. For me, the main goal this year is to bring the hard work and enjoyment back into everything we do.
I love coaching and I want the players to love playing.
The players look forward to training, excited about improving themselves individually and how we operate as a team, and excited about putting what they have practised on the training field into action during the game.
Similarly, I want you – the members and fans – to enjoy supporting your footy team.
I LOVE COACHING AND I WANT THE PLAYERS TO LOVE PLAYING.
I want all Titans fans to look forward to the game every weekend excited about what you are going to see.
I want Titans members and fans coming to Cbus Super Stadium because it is a positive, entertaining experience and going home happy with the effort, proud to call themselves Titans.
If we can do that consistently, the results will take care of themselves. This club and our Titans supporters deserve nothing less.
We have a strong club, a strong team and a strong community to make that happen.
I hope that you, like myself and everyone at the Gold Coast Titans, are excited about what lies ahead.
