REGARDING the article about youth & adult criminals being released by the courts without punishment. 11/3/20. Surely it is time to properly evaluate the punishment system. Sentences are too low and don’t match the severity of the crimes. Jails are soft, comfortable and have excellent food and conditions hence are no deterrent. Let’s make it hard time and make it a place not to return to. Make juvenile detention centres a place to fear. Only these changes will impact crime figures. Magistrates and Judges must punish appropriately or sack them for poor decisions. Laza

Anyone else wonder why teenagers wear hoodies in summer? Hide their identity perhaps? They should all be arrested under suspicion, DNA, fingerprinted & photographed then released. That might put the fear of god up em knowing that their details are recorded. If they are good little teens then they’ve got nothing to worry about! Enuff

Could it be that magistrates are aware of the “full house” signs up on most jails. I don’t see any political party planning to build more beds for the bad guys. What about it Deb? M Robina.

There is a certain RTO in SEQ who believes they can provide a course which will assist people to become Paramedics? Not true in fact it’s a complete load of crap DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE IDIOTS. Kamm

Jim T, for your selective comments what sort of spin can you put on the fact that the oceans have been rising for thousands of years maybe as one example Britain used to be connected to Europe is that the kind of climate change we are talking about … I ask you again Jim who are the real deniers here? Vern S

Having just read the story on the TAFE Campus site in Southport, it appears to me, politicians are both weak and have no idea about anything. Why can that building be turned in to a new Supreme Court, it’s location is perfect and we are in desperate need of this Court facility. Do our politicians have no interest in the community needs of the Gold Coast. We have an election due in October, I think we need a clean out. Matt. Merrimac

Mayor Tom Tate if you don’t want people to throw tyres in the bush well don’t make them pay for it at the tip you already make a profit on them when you recycled them. greedy.

Perhaps Qantas could divert some of its 2000 surplus staff to answer the phones. Qantas takes hours to answer their phones.

You really do have to shake your head at the stupidity of people, buying out hand sanitiser … but still using the filthy ‘self checkout’ at Coles & Woolworths. Sheridan

Jim Taylor is the daily critic of others who really needs to do some positive research himself. Nothing could be more accurate than the equipment at Fort Dennison on Sydney Harbour that measures the ocean water height. I am a builder and if you fill up your garden hose with water and hold up both ends it will give you an accurate level. Us builders and surveyors used that method before spirit levels were invented and water is the world’s most accurate method finding a 100% true level. Quit harping on the same subject Jim, you sound like my neighbour’s cockatoo. Dave, retired builder of 52 years.

Tom Tate why not do things you say you will do if you are re-elected. If it will benefit do it now. Were you in the army as a gunna seems you are always gunna do something but end up doing nothing.

Labor Party has had years to do something about youth crime. Now facing election defeat they suddenly care. It’s all hot air though.

Our nation of foreign doctors want to be compensated and get more money to combat the coronavirus, their oath to save lives is thrown out the door, it’s about money.

It was Paul Keating who got Australia in bed with China he now is CEO of bank of China we are to depend on China we need to trade with other countries as well and stop China buying up Australia before China owns us local 44 years

Ockas R well known 4 talking crap, so I guess the panic buying of toilet paper “proves it emphatically”! Cobblers

Alcoholics and chain smokers cost our health system so much money yet these clowns ignore the facts! Idiots. Kamm

Never watched, but Y would any1 “with half a brain” degrade & denigrate themselves & their families by taking part in crap like MAFS. They’re all just so much plastic. Jus Sayin

Coronavirus = communism’s solution to an ageing population.

How can it be justified to spend $700 Million on 6.7km of light rail to replace an existing bus service between Broadbeach and Burleigh? The light rail will have fewer stops, be less frequent than buses and disrupt traffic. It’s all for the benefit of developers so that high density, high rise can be built if light rail is constructed. Madness. Spend the money on a new M1. Bobble.
