To all the people buying up every single vegetable seedling in sight at Bunnings and every other nursery on the Gold Coast, do u realise that what u plant at the moment won’t be ready for at least 3 months? So much for u being self sufficient, I plant annually in my garden as do so many other people. I am in disbelief at the stupidity and greediness of the people at this concerning time. Chris.

Would it not be a good idea for organisations such as Meals on Wheels to extend their services for a nominal price to the unfortunate residents that have been blighted by this catastrophic phenomena? Sinbad.

How does social isolation work in a queue to vote this Saturday? Bert

I am wondering if our politicians have thought out what they are doing to the country with these draconian measures now in place just to save the lives of the elderly and those with weak immune systems. I am 70 years old and would risk my life rather than see my children go into mental depression and contemplate suicide because their livelihoods have been destroyed through no fault of their own. Today’s generation cannot handle what our grandparents went through back in the Thirties depression and a lot more lives will be lost in future if these measures last more than a few weeks. If it lasts for many months the Great Depression will have looked like a picnic. In my view the cure is not worth the cost if 98% recover from this deadly virus.

Now that there are thousands out of work wouldn’t it be a good time for our governments to start building dams, pipelines and the necessary equipment that is needed? This would help not just cattle and sheep stations but all types of crop and dairy farms and make our country more prosperous. Big Bob

Could someone please tell me why the Qld government insists that we go out and vote in local elections, yet health experts tell us to stay home?

Was in the local Ormeau Woolworths (24/03) talking to a very nice checkout chick who told me things are pretty good this week. Last week she said was dreadful, fights, abuse etc. She told me there was not a day last week when she didn’t cry due to face-to-face abuse. The people behaving this way are total cowards and should be held accountable. Makes me ashamed to be Australian. PH, Ormeau

With all the pokies shut down around the Gold Coast and

Oz imagine the millions that will be put back into the economy.

To all the young that think they are exempt from the virus, do you have a Granny or Pop?? You could give it to them, they are at risk, you ignorarmasists, it’s not about you, time to grow up and think about the future.

Please can the Australian and Queensland governments take note of what is happening in Tokyo with the Olympics. Queensland cannot afford to lose so much money. Cancel our Olympic bid now. GL

WA is closing its borders and banning all travel in regional areas except essential services. Annastacia... be wise and also restrict travel in our regional areas. No Brainer.

My mate says his employer is been fantastic during this time giving him bonuses. I said mate you’re a long time pot smoking dole bludger. Who is this mystery employer you speak off? Centrelink he answered.

When the virus is over Centrelink needs to be completly overhauled; it is imploding under its first real test. It would make it easier if Centrelink didnt want you to provide information they already have and staff knew more about the services they provide. Ron, Runaway Bay.

Centrelink queues, 26 letters in alphabet, 5 days in a week, surnames starting with XSTNP, Monday, RMZFW Tuesday etc. Same MyGov, may help. 4cr

So coronavirus has killed eight people in six weeks. And the country is shut down, so why does nothing occur when 100 people die in a week from alcohol, it is laughed at and promoted as normal. It’s a strange world we live in. Think about what’s going on. Jj

Hopefully all these restrictions will slow down the drug trade.

Please save the Centrelink staff from infection. Centrelink clients have to report fortnightly, some manually, perhaps they should be automatically paid if there are no changes from last payment, and they have complied with job agency requirements. Chopper

Qantas made a profit fy 2019 of $1.3b, why the hell r we giving them $750m in aid? Bicycle Kev

Now would be a good time to start light rail. Local businesses are already disadvantaged so get it over with. Plus it will create employment in the mean time.
