Thank you John Mc 6/4), you have made it clear to everyone where Metro Nerang (Petroleum Nerang) is located. All the best to Eric (octogenarian) as my local research shows that the unleaded & E10 remain low. PDH.

Baby Boomer 60s. Re no smart phone, Your local radio station, on TV helplines re virus, home help; even a neighbour could offer assistance. Ma

This morning I have seen the Queen, our head of state on a televised address which offers encouragement and her support to everyone during this time. I have also seen a past Australian Prime Minister commenting on a tragic situation on-board what he repeatedly calls a “petrie dish”. Why can’t our past Prime Ministers, those who were privileged to hold our country’s highest position, behave with the class and decorum of our Queen? You had your time and be grateful for having had that opportunity. While you may belong to one particular party, your negative comments diminishes not only your integrity but the public’s perception of every Prime Minister who has held that distinguished position. When a television station calls you next time, politely decline and instead offer your encouragement and support for our great nation during this diabolical time. AF

Oh dear, who is the dumbest? The Qld Gov has closed the border to keep crowds of southerners out, yet is allowing crowds to swarm on their beaches and joggers and walkers on the public footpaths, crowds of young ones holding booze parties, yet refusing Tweed residents access to Tweed Heads yet hundreds of Qld people work in Tweed Heads. Many Tweed business folk are saying that when this virus has vanished and need to hire staff again, they are going to refuse to hire any Qld’ers. Teach Annastacia to treat us Tweed folk like illegal immigrants. Greg.

ScoMo needs to put a DVD together of his clear, polite, sensible and NOT egotistical media appearances. Donald Trump might learn from it. Maid in Miami

Look at all those high-rises filled with common areas like lifts and lobbies, and all those shared flats along the beachfront. If ever there was a breeding spot for disease they are it, like land-based cruise ships. Isolate the lot of them! Patrick

If that article by Phil Rothfield is to be believed and I don’t see why not then it is obvious that some NRL CEOs only have a head to keep their ears apart. Barney

Is it my imagination or have people recently remembered how to “keep left” when walking towards another pedestrian? I’ve also noticed that those coming towards me are now looking at me, smiling and saying g’day. Can only hope this new approach continues post virus, as that would be something worthy of going viral. Now if we could just get the cyclists to resist the urge to ride on the footpath and get into their lane, I would’ve won the trifecta. Lucky Legs.

In the inquiry that will happen when COVID-19 is over, one of the biggest fails identified will be not advising everyone to wear face masks in public. This is one of the biggest differences between us and the Asian countries who have kept spread rates very low. KJ.

I do feel very sorry for Tweed Heads residents temporarily inconvenienced by the border closure. The simple and undeniable fact is that NSW has by far the highest number of recorded COVID-19 cases. Thank goodness a complete border closure is now in place. A partial border closure is useless. Containment and self-isolation are the only weapons at present in our arsenal to beat this virus and eventually get Australia going again. It is unfortunate that some Tweed folk feel like they are currently being treated like criminals. Many Australians are quietly making sacrifices at present for the greater good of all, without resorting to whingeing about temporary loss of liberties. Burleigh Bob

Labor is correct in its thinking, as I am, that there will be many companies that will rort the Govt $1500 stimulus to their own advantage and ignore their obligations to staff. Get ready to dob in these companies. Doug

Re “Cash is no longer king” (GCB, 5/4), A few years ago I was travelling north towing a caravan into a head wind and was very low on fuel. I pulled into a service station 50km out of a major town, as I was about to fuel up the attendant ran out and informed me that unless I have cash I can’t fill up as the lines were down and no eftpos. Lucky for me I had $20 in coin in the car. So now I always carry cash. ET Robina

So now we have a Liberal PM acting like a Labor PM, generous with taxpayers’ money. Labor was heavily criticised for spending less than half of Morrison, but he gets praised for putting the country into $1.3 trillion debt. Jj

Stevo, the reason we have backpackers picking all the fruit is because Australians are to bloody lazy to do it, that’s always been the case. Woodleigh

IF I have to be in isolation could the TV guides be a little more accurate and cut out the repeats please. Ron, Runaway Bay
