A big thank you to the owner and staff of No Name Lane Cafe, Oracle Blvd, Broadbeach for their Anzac Day breakfast, from grateful veterans.

Thank goodness more call centres are to be re-established in Australia, eg Telstra. It will be much easier to communicate.

I see Tom Tate’s ongoing obsession for a cruise ship terminal shows no sign of disappearing. A pity he can’t put as much energy into removing those stupid lights on the M1 at Yatala. Martin, Oxenford

Praise da Lords & a huge thankyou! When all else was rightfully shut on Anzac Day, nicked into Shell servo to pick up a Bully. While at checkout, was very MOST pleased to pick up 20 for $10 loo rolls – (ie 50c a roll) with a handle added for easy carrying! A thought came to mind though, what if 10 x double length rolls for $10 could save earth a mountain of extra plastic wrapping waste?

Great to see the NRL being proactive in trying to get back to some sort of normality so to all you naysayers move on I am sure the AFL won’t be far behind. Jock

When it comes to biosecurity and border security the onus of responsibility rests with the Commonwealth and the administration of the Customs Act 1901. So there is no doubt that Peter Dutton and ABF have breached their duty of care and have been negligent when it comes to the Ruby Princess which effectively shut down Australia therefore the Member for Dickson Peter Dutton should resign in shame forthwith. Trust me

Spare a thought for our wonderful teachers at this time with half the kids at school and half at home and trying to give them all equal time. The complexities are unbelievable. Let’s all say thank you.

One thing this COVID lockdown has proven is that politicians and bureaucrats can hold Skype meetings from home, so there’s no need for them to be flitting about on planes at our expense in future. Shano

Rugby union needs a lifeline. No more forward passes, cut penalties by 75%, allow the tackled player to stand up and play the ball and you can only play the ball for six tackles. Palmyboy

All Trump supporters should be given a sharps kit and a bottle of Dettol free. Chopper

Just an idea. Can we keep our international and local borders closed permanently as

I’m quite enjoying the peace and quiet! Feels like the GC of the 1980s. No traffic and less people around. It’s bliss!

The medals returned to on top of a letterbox on Anzac Day to the woman who had them stolen 5 months ago, for some reason gives me some hope that all is not lost. SMG

What part of stay home do the motorcycle riders who operate on their own set of road rules not understand? Stay home boys like all the rest of us have to. Peter, Advancetown

When you look at how incredibly strong and committed the young Anzac legends were, then look at what most of the current crop of 18-22 year olds can handle. How have these pathetic excuses even made it this far? The Mad Rooster

“Lighting up the Dawn” in our driveways seems to have been very popular. Would be great if that could become an

Anzac Day tradition. Of course keep the usual Anzac celebrations, but this is a great way to include everyone.

Why didn’t someone tell me the virus lockdown was over? Canals busier than before, not a rod insight, 3 people on 1 jetski, 6-8 people in a boat … at least 3 parties in my area ... Yipee its over! WAKE UP.

Congratulations Longmorn Crescent! So proud to see all our neighbours out there at 6am honouring the Anzacs. Dave & Wendy

Anzac Day 2020 should surely go down in history as a day that united neighbourhoods proudly celebrating and respecting all that the Anzac traditions represent. Overwhelmed by the abundance of flags, banners, candles, wreaths and distanced camaraderie shown by neighbours. Light up the Dawn was brilliant. MG

When Australia has made and sourced sufficient virus kits, masks, ventilators, hand wash soaps and disinfectants etc … we should go hard to equip 3rd world countries with these essentials. As no doubt, when it hits these countries, the repercussions will be of bubonic plague-like proportions.

Peter Campion’s letters are very informative & interesting. He presents an alternative view & it scares “the sheep”. Don’t forget Dave from Miami (GCB, 25/4) opinions are like a***holes, everyone has one! Who are you to limit someone’s right to state his opinion, to which many of us agree? Richard, Ormeau
