INDUSTRIAL UNITS PROVE POPULAR

- QUENTIN TOD

A CONSTRUCTION group with a workload that last year saw it buy land for a bigger base has made short work of a six-title Coomera industrial project.

Clarke Design and Construct, headed by Andrew Clarke, has sold all the strata-title units and they also all are leased. The 27 Ford Rd project has been undertaken in the Coomera industrial precinct (pictured), just off Beattie Rd and behind Dreamworld.

The 2959sq m site was bought from Bill Barry-Cotter’s Maritimo Properties for $1.1 million in 2018.

Daniel Coburn, of Colliers International, yesterday said the industrial units were from 293sq m to 396sq m and had sold at an average $2200 a square metre.

Leasing rates of $130 to $160 a square metre were achieved.

“The success of the project reinforces the strong demand from occupiers in the northern Gold Coast corridor, driven by accessibility to the broader southeast Queensland market,” Mr Coburn said.

“The location also is close enough to the coast to offer an excellent work-life balance.”

Mr Coburn said the units were being occupied by businesses ranging from a first-aid supplies and training group to an automotive association, a metal-roofing operation and a herbs and spices importer.

Marketing was undertaken by Mr Coburn in conjunction with Colliers’ Pat Cavanagh and CBRE’s David Corke and Luke Brechin.

Clarke’s Design and Construct last year bought land in the Logos estate at Arundel on which to build a 2500sq m headquarters, double the size of its five-year-old base nearby.
